7 sure-fire ways to get into the Christmas spirit

It’s never too early to catch those festive feels…

Start a “Reverse Advent Calendar
Instead of receiving something each day, give something. Place a box near your tree and add one canned item, warm scarf or hat, or small toy every day leading up to Christmas. Donate it all to a homeless charity on Christmas Eve for a heart-warming twist that fills the season with meaning.

Create a Family Christmas Bake-Off
If you and your family love to bake, divide yourselves into teams and pick a holiday treat to make – gingerbread houses, sugar cookies, or peppermint bark. Decorate, bake, and then get impartial adjudicators (grandparents, perhaps?) to vote anonymously on taste and presentation. The losing team has to clean up the kitchen, with Christmas FM blasting obviously.

Throw a “Wrap Party
Invite family or neighbours over for a gift-wrapping session. Share tape, ribbons, and snacks, and turn on Christmas FM for a proper party atmosphere. You’ll finish your wrapping and have a great time – win, win!

Set up a Festive Photoshoot
Once the whole family has gathered for the holidays, tell that you want one hour of their time to create an epic photoshoot that will leave them with memories they’ll treasure forever. You can have a theme, for example: red and green, sparkles, Christmas PJs or Santa hats. And you can create a winter wonderland with a white sheet backdrop and some simple edits in post-production!

Do a Random Acts of Kindness Countdown
Create a 12 Days of Kindness list – things like paying for someone’s coffee, leaving a thank-you note for your postman, or donating to an animal shelter. Not only will it create joy for the recipients, it will make you feel good to give back to your community.

Make a Christmas Indoor Cinema
Bring cushions and pillows from around the house, layer up with blankets, make popcorn drizzled with delicious toppings, and cue up your favourite holiday films. Light some candles for extra warmth and enjoy the cosy vibes as the cold weather rages outside.

Host a Christmas Pyjama Party
Skip the fancy clothes and invite friends or family over in their cosiest festive PJs to decorate the tree or watch a movie. Play classic Christmas tunes, sip hot chocolate, and share what you’re looking forward to most this year. Bonus points if you do it on the night of the Late Late Toy Show!
