Every year there’s mention that the makers of Quality Street have been shrinking their tins over the years, but now it seems that there’s finally evidence to back up the claim.
English woman Charlotte Hook has photographed four Quality Street tins from the 1980s to the present side by side, emphasising how the festive favourite has decreased in size over time.
Hook has the tins because she keeps her Christmas decorations in the empty containers. When she gathered them together this year, she was surprised to notice such a difference in size, before sharing her thoughts on the Quality Street Facebook page.
“Been putting the Christmas tree up, always keep my tins to put my decorations in after Christmas!”, she complained.
“Look how they’ve changed in size from 1998 till 2014! Bring back the big tins!!! Loyal quality street customer!” Charlotte wrote.
The post has already received over 68,000 likes and nearly 26,000 shares.
However a Nestlé spokesperson defended the product, saying that the image (above) does not compare like for like.
US Office star John Krasinski and TV host Jimmy Kimmel are renowned for their annual Christmas prank war, but after four years on the go it reached new heights on Tuesday night during the broadcast of Kimmel’s chat show on ABC.
This year, their week-long holiday prank onslaught has included Kimmel finding a live reindeer inside his dressing room, which has also been transformed into a winter wonderland.
But on Tuesday – while Krasinski was on the show – Kimmel got his own back by erecting hundreds of posters advertising a yard sale at the actor’s home – complete with his photo and real home address.

The countdown to Christmas has officially begun in London, as the Shard was lit up in red, white, and green on Wednesday night to mark the festive season.

As the buildings around London Bridge plunged into darkness the 72-storey high tower prepared to welcome in the festive period.
A beacon of light shone from the tip of the tower as the sun began to set on the River Thames.
