Move over mince pies – there’s a new festive pastry in town!

Mince pies can be divisive but for most households, they are a staple food in the Christmas diet.

However, for those who have never quite warmed to the texture or taste of the festive treats, there is a new alternative – the ‘Percymas’ pie!

The dessert is an offshoot of the iconic Marks & Spencer sweets, Percy Pigs, and have been released just in time for Christmas.

According the company’s social media accounts, the pie will feature a Percy-flavoured sponge with pink fondant icing and the all-important Percy sweet to top it off.

Early reports suggest they taste like the Percy sweets in a cherry bakewell tart – make of that what you will…

Recent changes to the popular sweets mean that the new treats are also suitable for vegetarians which is sure to increase their sales even more.

There’s quite a buzz on social media about these bad boys already with many customers lamenting that they are flying off the shelves before they’ve had a chance to buy them.

But don’t panic. We reckon there’ll be plenty of time for you to scout the aisles of your nearest M&S food store before Christmas and once you find them, make sure to stock up!

Happy Percymas everyone!
