Our top Netflix picks for Christmas

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the Christmas selection on Netflix is so delightful. From family films, and Netflix originals, to Christmas specials of our favourite TV shows, you won’t be bored this Christmas. The following are on our must-watch list!

The Christmas Chronicles

This is Santa as we have never seen him before, as he takes siblings Kate and Teddy on an unforgettable journey. When the brother and sister attempt to catch a glimpse of Santa on Christmas Eve, they get more than they bargained for in this hilarious adventure. Kurt Russell plays Santa, who is keen to put certain ideas, particularly about his appearance, to rest. On track to becoming an instant classic, ‘The Christmas Chronicles’ also features Santa’s reindeer and his hard-working elves!

Arthur Christmas

One of the best Christmas movies released in recent years, Arthur Christmas stars James McEvoy as Santa’s clumsy son Arthur. When a gift to a little girl is misplaced, kind-hearted Arthur makes it his mission to deliver the present in less than two hours. Also starring Hollywood heavyweights Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, and Hugh Laurie, this is an excellent choice for both parents and children this Christmas.

The Princess Switch

Starring ‘High School Musical’s’ Vanessa Hudgens, ‘The Princess Switch’ is like the ‘Parent Trap’ of Christmas movies. When Stacy, a baker from Chicago, is competing at a baking competition in Belgravia, she cannot deny the striking resemblance between her and the Prince of Belgravia’s fiancée, Lady Margaret. Lady Margaret wants to experience the life of a normal person before she gets married, and the two decide to swap lives, each learning some very important lessons along the way.

Though we are big fans of Martin Freeman, it’s the children who steal the show in this hysterical and heartwarming Christmas adventure. Martin Freeman plays Mr Maddens, a fed-up teacher, who has been landed with the task of presenting the school’s Nativity play with his class. When the energetic and child-like classroom assistant overhears Mr Maddens tell his rival that Hollywood are interested in the show, things take an unexpected, but highly entertaining turn for the school.

‘Nailed It!’ Christmas Special

If you’re not in the mood for the movies, and need some festive cheer, then ‘Nailed It! Holiday!’ is the show for you. A Netflix original show, ‘Nailed It!’ sees three amateur cooks battle it out to win $10,000 by recreating stunning and intricate desserts – with disastrous results. Nativity cake-pops and chimney cakes, among other tasty treats, do not go quite to plan for the bakers.
