Liam Walsh

About Me:

I am from Waterford in the Sunny South East and have been involved in radio since the pirate days. I spent some time working in RTE as a radio rroducer before joining WLRFM in Waterford in 1989 where I remained until 2001. Since then I have worked with Zenith Classic Rock, KCLR in Kilkenny and of course Christmas FM since 2011.

I am a Primary School teacher by profession and a classical trombone player and conductor. Since retiring from my teaching role in 2014, I present a weekly programme on Tipp FM in Co. Tipperary and every December I present with Christmas FM.  When not on the radio, I play and conduct a lot of Classical and Band music and am a keen amateur photographer.

Your role at Christmas FM:

Presenter

Why Christmas FM:

I loved the concept of Christmas FM from the moment I heard about it. I love all sorts of Christmas music from classical to rock so when the opportunity to work on Christmas FM arose it was a no brainer for me to say yes! Coupled with that, Christmas FM raises much needed funds for a worthy charity each year while bringing fun and the Christmas spirit to listeners. As a former teacher, who worked all my life caring for children educationally, I am delighted to be part of Christmas FM in 2018 as we help raise funds for Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

My Favourite Christmas Song:

Andrea Bocelli Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

My Favourite Christmas Food:

Christmas pudding (with cream!)

My Favourite Christmas Movie:

Polar Express

My Favourite Christmas Tradition:

A personal one… playing Christmas music with a large Symphony Orchestra and of course being on Christmas FM!

Where I’m From:

I am from Waterford city but I lived in Dublin while in college and when I worked in RTE. Waterford is a wonderful county with fantastic coastline, harbours and beaches. It’s a great place to live and I am proud to represent Waterford on Christmas FM.

My Elf Name is:

Pudding Glitter-Toes
