Mike Moloney

About Me:

I began my radio career in 1978. In 2000 I left 2FM, having spent 16 years there. Since then I’ve worked in regional radio. In 2004 I moved to Sligo to help launch the then newly licensed Ocean FM. I presented 6 shows a week there and became Head of Music.  Additionally I was in charge of programming all output and was Head of Outside Broadcasts – all of which kept me very busy!! A few years ago I left Ocean FM to help my wife Catriona run our business, Scooters Creche, Montessori and After-School club, taking care of 100+ kids of all ages in Caltragh, at the edge of Sligo town.

In 2018 I returned to RTE, presenting a show on RTE Gold called ‘Living in the 70’s’,  but now I own my own radio station, MusicOne Ireland, Proper Music Radio. Find me at www.musicone.ie Myself, Jim O’ Neill and a bunch of others and a 6,000 track music library.

Why Christmas FM:

How could you not work on Christmas FM, when asked? Doing radio that is not about you, your career or your fee! It’s all about other people – about the incredible joy the listeners get from the station being on air and about the phenomenal amounts of money that those listeners raise for the different Christmas FM Charity Partners each year.

It just has to be ‘White Christmas’ Bing Crosby.

Dark, dark Christmas pudding with lashings of strong brandy butter!!

It’s a Wonderful Life

My Favourite Christmas Tradition:

Getting as many people round the Christmas Dinner table as possible!
