My radio journey started in 1978 as a DJ on Dublin’s first specialist music station, Capitol Radio. Among those who started with me were Ian Dempsey, Barry Lang and Chris Barry all of whom became household names. For some inexplicable reason fame passed me by!!! My next challange came as compiler and producer of the rock show on Southside Radio. The jock at the time was a New Zealander, Brian Holland, who had worked on Radio Hauraki.
After working with a number of stations through the 80’s I was one of the founders of Anna Livia (now Dublin City FM) in 1991 and served as finance director. In the mid 90’s I rejoined Premier FM where I had been some years earlier. That pretty much kept me going for the next 10 years including three temporary licences. We were the first “multi city” station to be licenced by the BCI which was pretty cool. From there it was on to Christmas FM having come up with the idea at a meeting with the other lads over a few pints on a rare warm summer’s evening in August 2008.
